I think
the opposite of the word “plate” is “spoon”. For this, I have a few reasons.
1. The
plate is round, but the spoon isn't, it has a long and straight handle before
the small shallow bowl.
2. The
plate is a place to store something in it, but the spoon is used to throw the
stored thing into the mouth.
3. The plate is not used to move or shake in a cup, bowl or glass. It is rather fixed.
But the spoon is always moving thing, hand to hand or cup to cup. Further, a
plate lies on a table on its own, but the spoon does not work on the table, it
only works when it is in someone's hand.
4. A
person can clean a spoon at once without any time, but this is not the case
with a plate. He takes some time to clean it.
5. In
Urdu Language, Spoon (chamcha) is used for a flatterer someone who licks the
boot of other people, especially a powerful like the boss.
6. Some
people may share a plate among them, but they won't share the spoon.
