~Ramzay  Abu Farhan

Do you know…

Ablution (wudu) is not just water.

Come, today, let us discover that secret which quietly exists in every act of wudu.

Wudu is a secret of Allah.

Many of us have, at some point, thought:

“I just performed wudu…

Why do I have to do it again and again?

Why does it take so much time?”

But if we come to understand that

Wudu is not hardship… it is forgiveness,

Then perhaps it will never feel like a burden.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Wudu is half of faith.” (Sahih Muslim)

Pause and reflect for a moment.

This does not mean that faith is only wudu,

but that purity is the foundation of faith,

and wudu is the key to that purity.

If the heart is pure but the body is impure,

the prayer is not valid.

And if the body is pure but the heart is impure,

then the prayer has no soul.

Wudu is the bridge between the body and the heart,

through which faith passes.

Now listen to another hadith,

and listen with your heart:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Shall I not tell you of something by which Allah erases sins and raises ranks?”

The companions replied:

“Of course, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”

He ﷺ said:

“Performing wudu despite difficulty.” (Sahih Muslim)

Notice the word: difficulty.

When the self says:

“It’s cold… I’m tired… I don’t feel like it…”

and yet you still move toward the water—

Then that wudu

is no longer just wudu;

It becomes a ladder of elevation.

Allah is already waiting

for His servant to come and say:

“O Allah, I am weak…

O Allah, I am sinful…”

Allah looks for reasons to forgive.

And wudu?

It is one of the excuses Allah Himself has given for forgiveness.

When you wash your hands,

the sins of your hands fall away.

When you wash your mouth,

complaints, harsh words, and wrong speech are washed away.

When you wash your feet,

the dust of wrong paths is removed.

When you wash your face,

the mistakes of your gaze—envy, comparison—are cleansed.

And yet we say:

“It’s just wudu.”

While Allah says:

“This is not just wudu…

This is a door to My mercy

that you open yourself.”

Those who grow tired of wudu

do not realize the treasure they are leaving behind.

Wudu does not take time—

It saves time,

because it lightens the burden of the heart.

Wudu does not exhaust—

It relieves,

because it washes the soul.

Wudu is repeated

because Allah wants to see you clean again and again.

This is our Lord,

who says before prayer:

“First purify yourself,

then come stand before Me.”

So that when you bow in prostration,

no burden falls to the ground—

because your sins have already been washed away with the water.

May Allah grant all of us the ability to follow Islam. Ameen.
