I would not say that English is the first to be taught but enabling the child to learn is more important before teaching him anything. In my opinion, one needs the medium of instruction to teach kids science, math, or ethics. That medium is language. Without a medium of instruction, education in any subject is impossible. Just like travel is impossible without means of transportation, if no means available feet are also a means of travel. Similarly, if a child is a deaf or dumb body language & gestures are also means of communication.
Language may be what so ever, it is first, without it numbers and objects are meaningless for a kid who neither understands nor can speak any language.
First of all, I will teach him the language which is the medium of instruction.
