The School Rhyme
(A few minutes with children)
S. Qasim Hasany
Up, Up, Up, in east rises the sun.
Tun, Tun, Tun! Starts period one.
Run, Run, Run: many a daughter and son,
With their bags, having books and bun.
All have reached school in time,
And the bell has ceased to chime.
Many subjects they will learn
In periods four, turn by turn.
Then there is recess for lunch and fun.
Girls sit in groups, boys play and run.
The recess has stopped. Tun, Tun, Tun!
And so has all the play, run and fun.
Boys and girls enter classes, one by
one;
Leaving behind, their pranks and fun.
Afresh they are ready to take their
lesson.
Reading, writing or solving question.
They work and work, till they hear
The last chiming: Tun, Tun, Tun!
They pack the bags and run.
Down, down in west goes the sun.
