Yes, you are right, sometimes, kids ask silly questions. It is very difficult to answer children's stupid & irrational questions. They can ask anything extremely impossible to answer. Sometimes his desires & questions are impossible to tackle. Let me narrate an example.
As you know, Birbal was an astute and intelligent minister of King Akbar. Once he came late to the court. Another minister asked, "Birbal Sahib, you are a minister of a most powerful king of India, The Great Akbar Badshah. Why did you face such a delay in rejoicing your child?
Birbal said, it is not so easy, sometimes it is impossible to fulfil their desires. The minister repeated his words so that the king would realize his greatness. And he would inquire Birbal. He succeeded in doing so. When the king asked the same question, Birbal said, your honour, as I said it is not so easy. For a while, I become a child & let this minister fulfil my desire.
The minister said, "Why not".
Birbal, I need a small pot.
The pot was immediately brought.
Birbal, now I want an elephant.
The elephant was also brought.
Birbal, now put this elephant in the pot.
Now that minister was stunned & shocked and has nothing to utter.
Then Birbal said that’s the reason I said that no one can turn the impossibility into possibility? Remember the child can ask anything. That minister admitted his mistake and apologized from Birbal.
Now come to the question.
When a child asks a ridiculous question, still the respondent should answer in the best way, if it is possible to answer, otherwise, ...
This is the test of the respondent's present mindedness, intellect, wisdom, and the timely selection of the opportunity. If the child's stubbornness is such that it cannot be met, the question is such that it cannot be answered, then the best choice is to move forward to a new idea, transfer child's attention. Draw his attention to another place, person, thing or to another side. In which it is likely he will take an interest. However, children should be told according to their understanding, intellect and consciousness.
